As a Mercator Fellow, Vera Cittadino focuses on strengthening human rights and environmental standards in the coloured gemstone sector. Her work examines Europe’s dual role as a major market and regulatory actor and explores how due diligence standards can be effectively implemented in coloured gemstone supply chains. She previously worked as Head of Office to a Parliamentary State Secretary in the German Bundestag and as a jeweller in the luxury sector. Vera studied Politics and Law in Münster, Bologna and São Paulo, and Latin American Studies in Berlin.
