As a Mercator Fellow, Miriam Trefzer focuses on protracted displacement in East Africa and Jordan with a multidimensional approach. She pays particular attention to the social and political participation of people in protracted refugee situations, as well as to the situation of host communities and countries. Miriam has gained professional experience at the UNHCR Liaison Office to the OSCE, the Munich Security Conference, the UN International Law Commission, and as a volunteer with the Tanzanian Red Cross Society. She holds a B.A. in International Relations from TU Dresden and an M.A. in International Law from the Graduate Institute Geneva, and spent semesters abroad in Jerusalem and Boston.
