Systemic an transboundary risks. Innovative approaches of climate change adaptation for a resilient future.

Short biography

As Mercator fellow, Lukas Edbauer explores innovative ways of supporting societies in becoming more adapted and resilient to climate change. He is particularly interested in future-oriented and holistic approaches that address the systemic nature of risks and promote the collaboration of multiple actors. Previously, Lukas worked on strengthening EU cooperation with the southern neighborhood in disaster risk management, the engagement of the private sector in nature-based solutions, and supporting adaptation and resilience building in tourism. Lukas holds an M.Sc. in Geography of Environmental Risks and Human Security from the United Nations University and the University of Bonn as well as an undergraduate degree in rescue engineering from the Cologne University of Applied Sciences.
