Intersectionality in international criminal law

Short biography

As a Mercator fellow, Lina Schmitz-Buhl explores the concept of intersectionality in international criminal law. Her specialized interest lies in trauma-informed and survivor-centred investigation strategies that address the gendered impact of crimes in conflict. Previously, she worked for ECCHR and REDRESS where she contributed to strategic human rights litigation against enforced disappearance, torture and sexualized and gender-based violence. She is a German-trained lawyer and holds an LL.M. in Transnational Law from King’s College London and a Maîtrise en Droit from Université Paris 2 (Panthéon-Assas).”
