As a Mercator Fellow, Julia Schöndienst focuses on digital transformation through the lens of ecological and social sustainability. Her project aims to explore how digital technologies, despite their high resource and energy consumption, can contribute to achieving global environmental goals, and what measures are necessary to assess and mitigate their environmental impact. Her focus on sustainable and inclusive digitalization led her to join the UNDP’s Digital Team after completing her MSc in Technology & Politics. Previously, she gained experience at the intersection of technology, regulation, and ethics in SAP’s Trustworthy AI team, as well as at Samsung and the OECD.
