As a Mercator fellow, Jülide Kubat explores collaborative approaches to addressing colonial history. The aim is to develop new strategies for the shared use and interpretation of cultural heritage, while fostering networking among researchers, curators, and local stakeholders from both countries of origin and possession to strengthen the restitution discourse. Holding a PhD in Biology (Genetics, Paleoanthropology) from the Université Paris Cité Jülide has conducted research on fossil hominid teeth and worked at the Senckenberg and Karonga Museums. Her experience includes paleoanthropological excavations in Georgia, Israel, and Spain, as well as research stays in Rome, New York, and Copenhagen.
