Project title

The role of health inequalities in global health policy during the COVID-19 pandemic

Short biography

As a Mercator Fellow, Claudia Böhm is investigating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on health inequities. She will focus on the indirect health consequences, mediated by changing social determinants of health. Claudia studied medicine in Lübeck and Health Policy, Planning and Financing (M.Sc.) in London. She is passionate about mitigating major health threats to humans, animals and the environment (climate change, nuclear weapons, poverty, hunger/malnutrition). Claudia gained work experience at the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and as a board member of IPPNW – Physicians for Social Responsibility.
