During the fellowship, Chiara is working on the question of what legal tools can be used to put an end to fossil fuel finance. She focuses specifically on multinational (re)insurance companies and the associated legal levers that could drive real emission reduction within the sector and beyond. She obtained the basis for this interdisciplinary perspective during her BA in environmental law and anthropology and expanded on it with an LLM Global Environment and Climate Change Law at the University of Edinburgh. Having gathered practical experience at the Center for International Environmental Law, she is convinced of the importance of mobilising the law for socially-just climate action.
